The Georgia Ports Authority has promoted Susan Gardner from Vice President of Operations to Chief Information Officer. GPA President Kevin Price described Gardner’s terminal operating expertise, systems knowledge and leadership as qualities that will advance performance for customers and port users to the next level. Gardner joined GPA in 2020, serving initially as Senior Director of Operations and Projects before moving into the Vice President of Operations role, where she oversees daily operations at the Port of Savannah. The port handles 40 ships per week, 42 doublestack trains per week and 15,000 truck transactions per day, recording 5.67 million TEUs in fiscal year 2026 as the fastest growing port in the US Southeast. She has also managed the Ocean Terminal project during her tenure. Prior to joining GPA, Gardner spent time at terminal operations software company Kaleris/Navis as Vice President and General Manager of Field Operations in the Americas, overseeing 20 on-site software deployments per year across more than 100 customers. Gardner described the appointment as an exciting opportunity to find new ways to continuously improve GPA’s operations, expressing the ambition for GPA service levels to lead the industry and deliver supply chains that flow more smoothly and compete more strongly in world markets. GPA’s strategic plan calls for US$ 5 billion in infrastructure investment over the next decade, including five big-ship container berths at Savannah and a fourth RoRo berth at the Port of Brunswick.
