San Marino receives IMO recognition for full implementation of the STCW Convention in International Shipping News 14/05/2026 The San Marino Ship Register proudly announces that the International Maritime Organization (IMO), through the report submitted by the Secretary-General to the Maritime Safety Committee at its 111th Session (MSC 111), has formally recognized that the Republic of San Marino gives full and complete effect to the provisions of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978. The recognition follows the successful evaluation of information submitted by San Marino under Article IV and Regulation I/7 of the STCW Convention, confirming that the Republic’s maritime education, certification and watchkeeping framework is fully aligned with the international standards established by IMO. This important milestone further consolidates San Marino’s role as a forward-looking maritime jurisdiction committed to quality, regulatory excellence and professional development within the global shipping industry.
