The Port of Lázaro Cárdenas has welcomed the MSC Domitille, the first vessel of MSC’s new SIERRA Service, inaugurating a weekly connection linking the port with key Asian markets including Tianjin Xingang, Busan and Ningbo. The service strengthens logistics chains between Mexico and the Asia-Pacific region, offering importers and exporters a more efficient alternative for trade with strategic ports along the route. The Portuguese-flagged MSC Domitille, measuring 299.93 metres in length, handled 2,104 containers during its inaugural call at the Hutchison Ports LCT Specialized Container Terminal, demonstrating the port’s operational capacity and infrastructure capability for serving large vessels. The addition of the SIERRA Service represents a further step in consolidating Lázaro Cárdenas as a world-class logistics platform and one of the Pacific’s leading trade hubs, expanding its maritime service portfolio and reinforcing its strategic role in supporting Mexico’s foreign trade competitiveness and economic growth.
