Cosco Shipping Lines and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) have launched a new China–Jeddah (CJX) service, strengthening direct container shipping connections between China and Saudi Arabia, according to DynaLiners. The new service expands both carriers’ presence in the Middle East while providing customers with additional capacity on one of the region’s fastest-growing trade corridors. Saudi Arabia continues to experience increasing container demand as investment and industrial activity support import and export growth. The service will operate on the rotation Shanghai – Ningbo – Nansha – Jeddah – Shanghai , offering direct links between three of China’s largest container ports and Saudi Arabia’s principal Red Sea gateway. By providing a direct connection to Jeddah, the service is expected to improve transit times while supporting cargo flows between Chinese manufacturers and Saudi importers. Jeddah also serves as an important distribution hub for cargo moving across the wider Middle East and East Africa. The launch comes as container carriers continue expanding their Middle East service offerings despite ongoing adjustments to regional shipping networks. Strong trade volumes between Asia and Gulf markets have encouraged operators to introduce new services and strengthen existing routes. The China–Jeddah service further enhances the partnership between Cosco Shipping Lines and OOCL while increasing direct connectivity between Asia and Saudi Arabia.
