MMI Daily Iron Ore Index Report June 30 2026 in Chinese iron ore and steelmaking prices 30/06/2026 Today, the iron ore market on the Dalian Commodity Exchange showed a volatile trading pattern, with contract I2609 eventually closing at 747 yuan/ton, up +0.61% compared with the previous trading session. Port spot prices rose by 0–3 yuan/ton from the previous day. Trader activity was moderate, while steel mill purchases remained largely needôbased; as of now, spot market transaction volumes have been average. The current iron ore fundamentals continue to show a bearish bias. Supply remains loose, with no clear sign of reversal, while demand has entered a plateau and is expected to continue its downward trend in the future. This week’s SMM survey data indicate that blast furnace maintenance resulted in hot metal output impact of 1,156,300 tonnes, down by 48,700 tonnes weekôonôweek, with the projected impact for next week reaching 1,200,500 tonnes. On the news front, most factors are marginal disturbances, with bullish news taking the lead but not yet pointing to a directional trend. Therefore, considering all factors, shortôterm iron ore prices are expected to maintain a rangeôbound consolidation pattern.
