Ocean Network Express (ONE) will extend its Cargo Receiving Date application to all export shipments originating from Europe and Africa from 1 September 2026. Under the new process, the carrier will calculate freight rates according to the date on which it receives the cargo. This replaces the current method based on the vessel’s proforma estimated departure date. ONE said the change will provide greater rate certainty and reduce the effect of vessel schedule changes on shipping costs. The Cargo Receiving Date will apply to basic ocean freight and all associated surcharges, including local charges. How the new pricing method will work For Container Yard shipments, the physical gate-in date at the origin terminal or inland depot will determine the applicable rate. For door shipments, ONE will use the date on which the laden container is collected from the factory or facility. This date will be based on the Transport Request Order. The process matches the pricing method already used for trades regulated by the US Federal Maritime Commission. Shipments gated in on or after 1 September 2026 will follow the new Cargo Receiving Date rule. Cargo received before that date will remain subject to the existing proforma vessel departure date method.
